Our third topic was to design a set for the play Enron, Enron was an energy company in Texas that did some shady things and became bankrupt. I started off with some initial sketches of my ideas for the set, as usual I decided on one option that I drew first and I stuck with it because I am stubborn.

After that and a mini presentation of our ideas so far I realised I should probably try some varying designs so I had a mini brainstorm and SURPRISE went straight back to my original design. I did however like the idea of splitting the set in half as I thought I could relate this to the plot of Enron.
So the next task was to make our first model. I had to scrounge around at home for some cardboard which, thanks to the many amazon products I have been ordering, was easy to find and I built it up.

Along with actually designing the set I also had to think about lighting, projections, costume etc and so there's an example of how the projections would look in the set. It's just my laptop screen paused on a skyline video of Texas - but hey you gotta improvise in a pandemic.
Obviously a set made of cardboard can't be the final model so my job now was to make it a lot more cleaner and professional. To do this I painted it all black and I made some miniature tables and chairs for the set, I also found some cleaner model figures on Amazon. I put all this together with some experimental lighting to get a final image of my model. Along with some storyboards of different scenes during the play that was it for this topic.

Overall I really enjoyed this project, it allowed me to get my creativity flowing and was a nice distraction from the mundane life we were living, I am not yet finished however as I will be coming back to it and tweaking it so it is perfect.
